Sculpting a one-piece character prosthetic using Chavant NSP medium plastiline. The complete process from start to finish: blocking out, refining, and detailing including creating skin textures.

Casting out and Cleaning up a Plaster Positive from a Silicone Life Cast

Casting a plaster positive from a silicone life cast. Preparing for casting the plaster positive, casting the plaster and then mounting and cleaning up the plaster cast.

Making a Brush Up Silicone Mould of a Life Cast

Preparing the life cast for moulding and then brushing up a silicone master negative mould using quick cure silicone and silicone thixo additives, then dividing the cast with shim in order to create a two-piece jacket.

Making the Jacket Mould in Acrylic One

Using Acrylic One to laminate a two-piece hard jacket or case mould, over a silicone brush-up negative, to complete a matrix mould of a full head life cast.

Moulding the Prosthetic in Acrylic One

Making a negative mould from a prosthetic sculpture using Acrylic One. Adding flashing and setting rods into the core for making bolt holes, cleaning and trimming the mould, and adding a pour tube.

Casting (or running) the one-piece silicone gel appliance. Releasing the mould, applying cap plastic encapsulate, pouring the silicone and opening the mould.

Course Description

Acrylic One is a safe, non-hazardous product that can be used without the need for ventilation as it has no toxic fumes or smell. It also does not require the use of personal safety equipment, but still delivers a high quality mould.

Here we go through every step of the prosthetic makeup creation process, starting with casting a plaster positive from a silicone life cast, all the way through to application of the finished one-piece prosthetic.
