2008 has been a busy year at Gorton Studio! We are delighted that in addition to our regular classes, we have also taught a total of 6 bespoke courses this year, encompassing industry focused modules for students from other institutions, training for education sector tutors and lecturers and skills enhancement for professional make-up fx artists and technicians.
Renowned Los Angeles based creature designer Jordu Schell visited the Studio in January, to teach a new one week course in Mask Making & Creature Design Fundamentals. This was a great success and will now be a regular feature in our teaching schedule, as well as a new one week course in Advanced Creature Design also taught exclusively by Jordu – details are now available in the courses section.
Gorton Studio is fundamentally committed to its four main objectives which are:
To guarantee the highest standard of training available in the UK or anywhere in mainland Europe, using the most up to the minute techniques and materials.
To ensure the courses are always directly relevant to the industry and are taught by highly experienced, contemporary prosthetics practitioners who continue to work in film and television.
To give genuine value for money, deliver the specific skills required to work in the business today and provide a real, industry context for learning.
To listen to students' feedback and continually refine the courses in order to offer the optimum educational experience in this field.
The Studio's most unique quality is its affiliation with Neill's multi-award winning company Millennium FX (Saving Private Ryan, Children of Men, Little Britain, The Catherine Tate Show, Doctor Who etc...)
Millennium's workshops are side by side with Gorton Studio which provides a genuine, live industry setting for study. Students can access Millennium's crew and resources, watch jobs develop in the workshops and gain valuable insight as to what it takes to get work in the business from Neill's experience as a long-term employer.

Please note; short courses may be added to the schedule during the year. We also regularly seek student feedback about our courses and respond to the emergence of new materials and techniques as they occur in the industry. As a result we may refine course content and update the relevant information on this website accordingly. If you have booked onto a course please make sure you refer to the live information on this site regularly to ensure you are party to the latest details.
